Dear friends and partners,

While we look forward to our Annual Network Convening each year, we have decided to postpone this year’s convening set for July 20th.  We are so proud to have hosted this annual event drawing over 100 partners together to learn, collaborate, and champion literacy for four years.  Given the challenges of summertime programming, we’ve decided the best way to value the rich and diverse exchange of ideas that is the hallmark of this event is to cancel our July 20th date.

We have already begun plotting new convenings for the coming months, which will take the best elements of our annual event and produce high quality and high impact collaborative learning and field building opportunities that engage new and longtime network participants.  This new configuration of opportunities will also highlight and maximize the role of our members in our formal member network, launching early fall.

We know that Oakland is stronger because of the many dedicated people working in service of our children and families. We’ve been so thrilled to work with so many of you over the last year to bring new networking and field building opportunities to the Coalition.  From our small grants aimed at making Oakland a literacy rich city, quarterly meetings focused on information and ideas exchange, widened networking engagement with groups like the Oakland Youth Ally Alliance, to strengthening partnerships through a funder dialogue and a data sharing work group, we are as committed as ever to building and supporting a thriving network of change makers.

Thank you to our speakers and presenters for their openness in sharing what they do.  We will be featuring these stories in other ways and showcasing best and bright thinking from so many of you.
