The OLC is delighted to gather our community together in the beautiful light- and art-filled Artthaus Studios for a conversation with three authors who have used their voice and their stories to illuminate social justice issues: Leticia Hernández-Linares, poet, teacher, and author of the children’s book Alejandria Fights Back! / ¡La Lucha de Alejandria!, Naheed Hasnat Senzai, award-winning author of middle grade books Shooting Kabul, Escape from Aleppo, and Ticket to India, and Traci Chee, author of young adult novels We Are Not Free, The Reader Trilogy, and A Thousand Steps into Night.
Moderating our salon about the power of literature to further social justice will be Michelle Walton from The Collective – Oakland, a bookstore which sparks cultural well-being through literature.
