Understanding Outcomes from the ‘Right to Read’ Settlement

Virtual Event Virtual Event

January 17 @ 9:30 am 11:00 am

In early December, researchers at Stanford University released a working paper titled The Achievement Effects of Scaling Early Literacy Reforms, co-authored by Sarah Novicoff and Thomas S. Dee. The researchers found that, as part of a $53 million settlement, targeted literacy programs in CA’s 75 lowest-performing schools helped raise reading scores. Join us for this special opportunity to hear directly from one of the report’s co-authors, Sarah Novicoff, and understand how the settlement and subsequent reforms have impacted student reading outcomes in California schools. In this 90-minute virtual session, participants will have an opportunity to learn more about the research and what the research suggests about how districts and states may better implement reading reforms. The forum will provide an opportunity to learn more about the impact of the settlement on participating Oakland schools. The session with include a presentation and Q&A with Sarah Novicoff and time for participant interaction.
