The OLC’s School Library Partnerships program is thrilled to announce that applications for the 2024-25 Books Kids Want to Read program are open for library staff serving elementary schools.

The program provides funding to purchase books for OUSD elementary school libraries and supports collections that are high-interest, representative, and engaging.

GRANT DETAILS:

Grants will be awarded in amounts ranging from $1,000 to $3,500 to purchase books for elementary school library collections.

Staff working in two separate school libraries may submit one grant application per library.

ELIGIBILITY:

All school library staff serving students at OUSD elementary schools are invited to apply. The secondary school BKWTR program will be announced at a later date.

LIBRARY VENDOR REQUIREMENT:

All grant money will be spent with Mackin, and must include shelf-ready processing. This includes Kapco covers for any paperbacks ordered.

Please note: Money will not be sent directly to your school. If your application is approved, you will be asked to create a book list with Mackin and share the list with the OLC. The OLC will pay the library vendors directly for book purchases.
