AI is changing how young people read, write, and think. Which skills do we want them to hold onto? Next Wednesday, we’re bringing Oakland teens, families, and educators together to talk it through.

Join the OLC and Common Sense Media for Teens, AI and the Power of Reading, an evening of food and conversation about thinking for ourselves, finding our own voice, and what literacy means now.

Here’s what to expect:

Everyone talks. There will be time for small-group conversation, so come ready to share your own questions and experiences.

Students share their experience. A panel of Oakland high school students talks about how they actually use AI for reading and writing, and how it’s affecting the way they approach schoolwork.

Educators respond. Teachers and school staff share what they’re seeing in classrooms and libraries.

New research. Common Sense Media shares findings from its national survey of teens and AI.
