Read Across America (and beyond!) with the OLC!

Share

Here at the OLC we constantly discuss what we’re reading.  Being a literacy organization, this is probably not a surprise to anyone!  (We even did a book exchange for the winter holidays, similar to a “secret santa” exchange. You can see our gifts to the left.)

At our Quarterly Meeting in January, we opened by asking people to write down on chart paper anything they were reading.  It was fantastic to see the diversity of texts among our community! In that spirit, for Read Across America, we are turning this question to our community – you!

In keeping with the NEA’s focus on diverse readers, we want to know what you’re reading, and where it takes place.  Our goal is to show the diversity of readers and books in our own Oakland community.

We’ve built this interactive map so you can follow along and track book locations here on our website. We will update it throughout the next few days leading up to Read Across America Day (March 2). Feel free to add more than one – the more the better. And pass it along to friends and colleagues too!
