We are giving away five titles to celebrate Black Children’s Book Week! This celebration officially kicks off on February 25 and invites all educators, parents, authors, and communities to celebrate Black children in media representation. To participate, follow @BlackChildrensBookWeek or visit www.BlackChildrensBookWeek.org to learn more and find new ways to get involved.

The books included in the giveaway are geared toward ages 5-10 and are listed below : 

• Courageous Adventures of The Konscious Kidz: The Neighborhood by John Casselberry and Madeline Connor, illustrated by Jerl Laws (local authors and illustrator!)
• Too Small Tola by Atinuke, illustrated by Onyinye Iwu 
• Sadiq and Hooyo’s Drum by Siman Nuurali, illustrated by Christos Skaltsas 
• Stuntboy, in the Meantime by Jason Reynolds, illustrated by Raúl the Third 
• Goodnight Racism by Ibram X. Kendi, illustrated by Cbabi Bayoc

How to Get Extra Entries to the Giveaway:

You can interact with the OLC on both Facebook and Instagram. That will count as two separate entries!

You can get extra entries on Instagram if you (1) Tag a friend in your comment and (2) Repost our Instagram post on your Instagram Stories and tag @oaklitcoalition.

Entry Rules: 

• Participants must be over the age of 18 and must reside within the United States. No purchase is necessary to enter this giveaway.
• Entries will be accepted from February 20, 2024 – February 25, 2024. We will be drawing our winner on February 28, 2024! 
• One winner will be drawn from both the Facebook and Instagram entries. They will be contacted on the applicable platform via direct message and announced three days after the end of the giveaway. 
• If the chosen winner does not confirm the message within three business days (March 8, 2024, at 5 p.m. PST), another winner will be selected.
